Wine Tasting in Santa Barbara Funk Zone

I picked up a few bottles the other day on a mid-week visit to the Santa Barbara Funk Zone (Click Here for Urban Wine Trail Map). It was nice to walk around and taste without all the weekend crowds. I chatted with the manager of the sleek, newly opened Riverbench tasting room, and had a great time with Paola at Municipal Winemakers. These are the wines I picked, along with some summer dishes that I think will pair beautifully.

Wine and Food Pairing:

  • Riverbench Blanc de Blanc – Tuna Carpaccio with Ponzu Sauce
  • Municipal Winemakers Chenin Blanc – Shrimp Tacos with Avocado-Cilantro Salsa
  • Tower 51 Grenache Blanc – Heirloom Tomato and Goat Cheese Tart
  • Pali “Bluffs” Pinot Noir from Russian River Valley – Seared Sockeye Salmon with Basil Pesto

Let it also be said that, while I typically avoid wine clubs, I succumbed to Paola and am now a member of Municipal Winemakers’ “Club Awesome.”
